Vallombrosa Panoramic ring

Located just a stone's throw from the Hotel Rifugio La Foresta, the Vallombrosa Panoramic Loop is an incredible 14 km adventure into the nature of Vallombrosa, offering a panoramic view that includes Monte Secchieta. Starting from our hotel, this route is one of the most picturesque in Pratomagno and varies between CAI trails, forest roads, and a stretch of asphalt road. It winds at an altitude of about 500 meters uphill and downhill, requiring approximately 5 and a half hours of walking.

The itinerary takes you through the spectacular Bocca di Lupo locality, continuing with an ascent to Poggio alle Ghirlande on Monte Cuccuruzzo. If you are looking for a shorter route, there are several well-marked alternatives to return to Vallombrosa.

The panoramic view from Secchieta is truly unique, showcasing fields cultivated with potatoes and spectacular views of the valley, Monte Amiata, and the plain of Florence.

After a walk in the Forest of Sant'Antonio, you will arrive at the Macinaia rest area and, following the CAI trail 14, to the Capanna delle Guardie - perfect for a stop with a view over the Forest of Sant'Antonio and Valdarno.

The itinerary continues along a forest road, passing by the Croce del Cardeto with a breathtaking view of the two sides of the ridge, the wind turbines, and up to the Secchieta Refuge.

Finally, CAI trail no. 9 will lead you to Paradisino and, through the Holy Staircase of the Circuito delle Cappelle, to the Vallombrosa abbey, returning to the Hotel Rifugio La Foresta.

This day-long hike is a perfect mix of things to do in Vallombrosa, combining nature, history, and unique views. A wonderful opportunity for guests of the Hotel Rifugio La Foresta to immerse themselves in the beauties of Vallombrosa and its enchanting abbey.
